How to repair a leak in a commercial inflatable water slide

Inflatable water slides are absolute summer favourites. Not to forget this is the peak season for an inflatable rental business owner. The blow up water slides are rented out more often in comparison to any other season. And given this frequency, there is a fair chance of the item getting damaged. Seeking professional help to fix the tear every time can cost significantly. Repairing them at home can prove to be a good idea, if done properly.

The article here discusses on how a hole can be fixed in a commercial water slide

1.Find the hole
Firstly, you will be required to find the hole in the water slide. Inflate the water slide and fill a spray bottle with soapy water. Spray the water in the slide going around it and look for bubbles that will begin to form where the tear or hole is. Encircle the spot that needs repairing. Wipe the soapy water and make a circle around the damage using a black marker. Remember, the patch is suppose to cover the circle you just made so it wouldn't be visible later.

2.Prepare for the repair work
Once the damage has been spotted, dry the water slide and deflate it. Ensure all the air has been taken out and the slide is absolutely dry. There are several methods and repair kits available depending on the type of water slide you own, a consumer-grade water slide or a commercial grade water slide.

Method of repairing
Repairing a hole in a commercial water slide is much more work than just sewing a patch and gluing it. The inflatable material used for making these slides is the same as the one used for making a bounce house and it can withstand getting holes, tears and damages. A high grade vinyl can be stitched two to six times. This is among the reasons why businesses prefer to buy them because they tend to last longer.

Often times, commercial water slides come with a repair kit which includes the thread and a needle. These can be bought from the market as well in case you don’t get one with the purchase.

Using the same method mentioned above, after the hole has been identified, it will have to be sewed close to start. Since this slide is really large, you will have to be careful. Make sure the stitches are close together when sewing it shut. After that is done, take out the patch, cut it bigger than the tear (one inch bigger at least). Spread a small amount of glue around the outside. Now, push the patch to cover the hole firmly. Wait for the time recommend on the kit. You will find the leak in the water slide has been successfully repaired.

To conclude, commercial water slides are made of very strong and high grade  material. If they are maintained properly, they are less probable to tear and leak.
